Ba Duan Jin

Ba Duan Jin is considered the most fundamental form in health qigong. It combines constant rotation of joints with contracting and expanding motions of the body to improve agility, strengthen the lower body and dredge the meridian system. This is a beginners' course, which focuses on movements and basic techniques.

Every Sunday morning, instructor Edward Ho leads a group Health Qigong practice at the Cummer Park Community Centre. This is a community activity organized by the Green Realty Group. Various Health Qigong styles are practiced throughout the year.

Qigong Exercise - 12 Duan Jin (Shi Er Duan Jin)

12 Duan Jin (Shi Er Duan Jin) is a new form of Health Qigong which has inherited the essence of different schools of the original exercise. It is a set of systematic sitting posture exercises which are done in order of head, neck, shoulders, back, waist, upper limbs, lower limbs, chest and abdomen. Practicing this form of Health Qigong can strengthen movements of one's neck, shoulders, waist, and legs.

Qigong Exercise - Wu Qin Xi

Wu Qin Xi is generated from the forms of five animals: lion, crane, deer, bear, and monkey. It challenges the human body and mind to adjust to postures, motions, and tones found in the animal world. This is an intermediate level course. Students should have learned the fundamental styles of Health Qigong: Ba Duan Jin and Yi Jin Jing before enrolling in this class.

Mawangdui Daoyin Shu

Mawangdui Daoyin Shu is a relatively new addition to the modern Health Qigong style family. It is mainly characterized by guidance along meridian channels and synchronicity of movements and thoughts. This health qigong style focuses on the opening and closing, ascending and descending, rotating and revolving, bending and stretching of the body, its tendons, and bones. It is a set of exercises with primitive simplicity and elegant postures designed to cultivate one’s internal and external wellness. This is a beginners' course, which focuses on movements and basic techniques.

Liu Zi Jue

Liu Zi Jue uses principles of resonance in the vibrations and frequencies emitted from one’s voice to massage the internal organs. As its name implies “Liu Zi”, meaning six words, this Health Qigong form combines mild body movements with six complex sounds to integrate exercise of the external and internal parts of one’s body.
